Voter Privacy Measure Signed In To Law - AB 269 SACRAMENTO, CA- Recently, Governor Schwarzenegger signed into law AB 269, measure will take effect on January 1, 2010.

AB 269 gives prosecutors and registrars the update to voter privacy laws that they need to secure our voting rights, not only at the polls but throughout the entire process. AB 269 makes it a misdemeanor to intentionally gain knowledge of how a particular voter voted during the counting or recounting of ballots in any election.

AB 269 protects one of the most fundamental rights in a democracy - privacy in voting. These efforts will give prosecutors the necessary tools to protect the sacred process of secret ballots."
